Tournament Format

The Championship will be conducted on a stroke play basis for 54 holes, 18 holes daily on October 5-7, 2012.

The field will be limited to 120 entries. In the event the Championship becomes over-subscribed, refer to the following paragraph, "FINAL FIELD".  After 36 holes the field will be reduced to the low 60 scores and ties for the final 18 holes of play.

In the event of a tie for the Championship there will be a "multi-hole" play-off commencing immediately following play (the holes involved to be determined by the AGA) with the Champion being determined by the lowest total of those holes. If a tie, or ties, still exists, the Championship will then be decided by "sudden death" following the same sequence of holes. After the Champion has been determined, all other ties not yet settled, including those involving individuals participating in the playoff for the Championship, will be decided by matching scorecards of the final round in accordance with the USGA recommendations shown in Appendix I of the 2012-2015 Rules of Golf, How to Decide Ties, page 144(c), except that if the tie still exists following this procedure, scores for the first 9 holes shall be treated in the same way until a winner is produced. Any remaining ties will be decided by matching cards hole-by-hole, beginning at the 18th hole.

FINAL FIELD

If, at the close of entries, the Championship is oversubscribed, the Final Field will be determined using a combination of Players making the cut the previous year, the AGA's Player Points List, previous performances in AGA events, verified USGA Handicap Index, and exempt players…

EXCEPT,

If, at the close of entries, the Championship is oversubscribed to the extent that the AGA determines a qualifier is the most equitable way of establishing the final field, the qualifier will take place at the Championship site the Thursday morning preceding the start of play; please refer below to “QUALIFYING”. The playoff will be limited to approximately 96 players, with the balance of the entries being exempt from qualifying. Exempt players will be identified by the following paragraph “EXEMPTIONS”.

Final determination regarding the need for qualifying, the number of qualifiers and the number of exempt players will be at the discretion of the AGA and will be announced as soon as practicable following the close of entries.

QUALIFYING

If the AGA determines that Qualifying is necessary, it will follow the following format:

The format and stipulated round for qualifying will be 18 holes at stroke play. In the event of a tie for the last qualifying spot, weather and darkness permitting, a sudden death playoff will begin immediately following the conclusion of play and beginning on Hole #1 as shown on the official scorecard. Alternates that haven't been decided at the conclusion of the qualifier or a playoff will be decided by matching scorecards (Appendix I, page 144) except that if the tie still exists following this procedure, scores for the first 9 holes shall be treated in the same way until a winner is produced. Any remaining ties will be decided by matching cards hole-by-hole, beginning at the 18th hole.

Qualifying will be limited to approximately 96 players. The number of available places for the Final Field will be determined based on the remaining number of places in the Championship after exempt players.

If an on site qualifier is necessary, players not qualifying for Championship will be refunded entry fee, less $60 qualifying fee.
