CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION

AGA Membership

The AGA is an association of Member Clubs, including both clubs with a golf course and associate clubs without a golf course.  A Member Club consists of at least 10 individual members who must have a reasonable and regular opportunity to play golf together and post scores.  A member club must also provide to its individual members the GHIN Handicap services offered by the AGA.

An individual may become an AGA member by joining one of our 160+ Member Clubs/Courses and establishing a USGA Handicap Index (GHIN).

How to Join the AGA

Visit the golf professional at an AGA Member Club/Course where you most likely would play most of your golf and indicate your interest in joining the AGA and establishing a USGA Handicap Index.  This would be your “home course” where your records are kept , but you can still play and post your scores wherever you want.

View our Member Clubs List to find a course near you to join.

AGA Member Benefits

As a member of the AGA, you will be entitled to the following AGA Member Benefits:

AGA/GHIN Handicap Service

AGA Members receive an updated handicap from GHIN 13 times a year, once every four weeks. Being an AGA member allows you to post your score wherever you play in Alabama and across the country using the USGA’s GHIN Handicap System, the largest handicapping service in the world.

The Members Letter

You will receive AGA’s official newsletter, The Members Letter, published quarterly and available via email or here. The newsletter contains information of interest to all golfers, with a focus on amateur golf in Alabama. It also includes updates on news going on with the AGA.

AGA Competitions

You may be eligible to compete in some of the eight AGA State Championships. Events are available for men of all ages, juniors and seniors, and are held at AGA Member Clubs around the state from April through October each year. The AGA also conducts USGA Qualifying events, High School championships, Intercollegiate Championships and Southern Golf Association Championships.

Additionally, the AGA Rules & Competitions Committee can provide answers to Rules of Golf questions or concerns.

All golfers in Alabama also benefit from the services the AGA provides its Member Clubs, including course measuring and rating, rules seminars, rules and tournament assistance. Click here to find out more about the AGA.
