Entries are open to male, amateur golfers, who: 1) are members of the Alabama Golf Association; 2) are bona fide residents of the State of Alabama; 3) have a USGA Handicap Index of 10.4 or less; and, 4) qualify under the following age requirements:
50-56 Age Group - Must have reached 50th birthday, but not 57th birthday, by June 20, 2008.
57-64 Age Group - Must have reached 57th birthday, but not 65th birthday, by June 20, 2008.
65+ Age Group - Must have reached 65th birthday by June 20, 2008.
The Championship will be conducted on a stroke play basis for 54 holes, 18 holes daily on June 20-22, 2008. There will be three age divisions as described in "Eligibility", with the Champion being the player who posts the lowest 54 hole score in either the 50-56 or 57-64 age divisions. Individual age division champions will be those players who post the lowest 54 hole total within their age division. There will be a cut to the total field following 36 holes of play to approximately 60 players. The number of players making the cut in each age division will be determined by applying to 60 the percentage of players in a particular age division to the overall number of players in the championship, and then accepting ties for the last position within each age division.
In the event of a tie for any age division champion, there will be a "multi-hole" play-off commencing immediately following play (the holes involved to be determined by the AGA) with the Champion being determined by the lowest total of those holes. If a tie, or ties, still exists, the Champion will then be decided by "sudden death" following the same sequence of holes. After the Champion has been determined, all other ties not yet settled, including those involving individuals participating in the playoff for the Championship, will be resolved by matching scorecards according to the USGA recommendation shown in Appendix I of the 2008-2009 Rules of Golf, How to Decide Ties, page 124(c), except that if the tie still exists, scores for the first 9 holes shall be treated in the same way until a winner is produced. Any remaining ties will be decided by matching scorecards hole-by-hole, beginning at the 18th hole.
No caddies are available at Limestone Springs. It is permissible to bring caddies and any player who does so is solely responsible for his/her conduct. Contestants are not required to have either caddie or cart and are permitted to carry their own bag. Golf carts are allowed and are available to those contestants who have a valid driver's license. Cart fees will be the same for each player, even if circumstances are such that a player is left to ride by himself.
Users must obey the cart operations rules established by the host club, to include the allowance of spectator carts.
Please specify on the Entry Application Card if a cart is to be reserved. For further information regarding carts, please refer to the AGA General Rules.
